Supporting Grieving Kids and Youth (PDF)
I created this guide as a resource for parents and other caring adults (healthcare workings, hospice staff, palliative care teams, school personnel, etc) to refer to when supporting grieving children and youth.
In this guide you will find information and tips for preparing a child for a death or disclosing a death to a child, what children of different ages may need for support, supporting children at funerals, grief and sleep, coping with fear after death and a list of other helpful resources.
If you are concerned about how your child or youth is coping, please reach out to myself or another children's grief professional.
(Please note that I do not provide immediate crisis support. Contact Kids Help Phone at 1-800-668-6868 for immediate mental health support or go to your local emergency room.)
